Big news from Prairie State Bank & Trust— Jason Burgener is joining us as Treasury Sales Officer in the Savoy, Mattoon, Charleston & surrounding areas! With a reputation for being easy to talk to and deeply committed to his clients, Jason is a perfect fit for our team. We’re excited to share more about the newest member of our PSB&T family!
PSB&T: How would your spouse/friends/family describe you?
JB: I think my friends and family would all describe me as kind, outgoing, reliable, light-hearted but strong-willed (or stubborn) depending on who you talk to!
PSB&T: What made you choose to join Prairie State Bank & Trust?
JB: I chose Prairie State because they provided me a unique opportunity to build on my past experience and grow in a different area in banking. Also, the level of thought and communication from Prairie State throughout the decision-making process was fantastic.
PSB&T: What’s the best place you’ve traveled to?
JB: I’ll name a couple. Kauai, Hawaii, and also the old Yankee Stadium before it was torn down.
PSB&T: Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
JB: I do collect sports cards. Kyle Buhr got me into that and now I’m totally hooked. Thanks, Kyle!
PSB&T: What’s something you find challenging about working in banking/lending?
JB: In my experience as a manager, avoiding micromanagement was particularly hard especially when people are just starting. Of course, you want to make sure something is done accurately and with great customer service, but you can’t do it all and have to trust your staff and the developmental process.
PSB&T: What motivates you at work?
JB: Growing relationships with both new and existing customers while helping create solutions and making a customer’s experience smooth and optimally beneficial. It’s rewarding to be a part of and a win-win for everyone!
PSB&T: What’s one thing you’re really bad at?
JB: Saying no to my kids. My wife and I both struggle with this at times. I promise we try not to spoil them too much!
PSB&T: In what ways do you feel PSB&T stands apart from other financial institutions?
JB: I’ve worked for a few different institutions and it seems very apparent that Prairie State Bank & Trust is committed to identifying the right fit for the right person throughout the organization. It’s both refreshing and reassuring and no doubt translates into how well our customers are served.
PSB&T: What’s your favorite weekend activity?
JB: Right now it is playing outside with my kiddos. We live near Allerton Park in Monticello and go there often when the weather allows.
PSB&T: What are you most excited about in your new role?
JB: I’m most excited to step into a new area of banking! I have over a decade of banking experience but this will be a unique opportunity for me to develop new skills and harvest new relationships with our amazing team and customers!
The future is looking bright with Jason on board, and we can't wait to see all the great things he'll bring to the table! Let’s give him a warm PSB&T welcome as he settles into his new role.
